Article on the (Potential) Impact on Patient-Centric Data on the Structure of the Healthcare Industry

This article from the Harvard Business Review website paints an intriguing of picture of the future of healthcare delivery when data Image from Shutterstockcollection (think Fitbit, Apple Watch, and more elaborate devices) becomes more pervasive and is aggregated such that it is fully available to both patients and providers alike. The authors postulate two possible patient-provider relationship models developing out of this evolution – “Goldminers” (where providers and payers take the lead in managing the patient, a situation resembling the present) and “Bartenders” (where the patient takes charge and solicits as-needed advice and guidance from providers, hence the name of this model). An interesting read and food for thought on the future of healthcare delivery.
