One of the initiatives I undertook during my time as certification lead for the MMIS project was to interview Washington State about their experience with CMS certification. Washington State gave us a lessons learned write-up, and, based on that, I prepared a list of questions for them, and then we spent about an hour or so interviewing them on the phone.  This is the write-up from that interview as well as the questions list.  I did not include their lessons-learned document since I was not the author.
